The face behind De Schoonschrijfster? That's me!
My name is Sylvia van Dijk, a professional calligrapher, engraver, and bottle painter, and I'm obsessed with all things calligraphy. Copperplate script, in particular, has stolen my heart. I love the rhythm, the regularity, and the clean lines that ultimately create elegant, graceful letters. But besides this classic script, I'm proficient in many other scripts.
My steady hand comes in handy when engraving and bottle painting: in no time, a sleek engraving or a sweet flower will adorn your perfume bottle.

Teaching
In addition to my creative assignments, I enjoy teaching calligraphy and handwriting improvement.
Whether you're just starting out or already have some experience, I'm happy to help you in a clear, structured way. Thanks to my years of experience as a primary school teacher, I know how to teach in a way that truly works. I've now taught over 750 students calligraphy – and it's always a joy to see how people grow in both their technique and confidence. I truly enjoy inspiring and motivating others, and guiding them step by step towards their personal goals.
The common thread in all my work? Personal attention, luxury, and a passion for lettering. Whether I'm working with a dip pen, an engraver, or a brush, I believe that handmade details make all the difference!
