In my workshop space in Wateringen (near The Hague), I'll teach you the basics of classic Copperplate script in 2.5-3 hours. Have you mastered the basics and are you ready for a new challenge? I'd be happy to guide you further. I also offer private lessons.
Group workshop
BEGINNERS
In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of classic Copperplate script in a small, relaxed setting (max. 8 people). This elegant 17th-century script is recognizable by its rounded shapes, fine hairlines, and graceful shadows. We'll work with ink and a dip pen—and while it may seem challenging at first, with the right guidance, you'll quickly make progress.
Thanks to the camera above my hands, you can follow exactly what I'm doing on the big screen. You'll receive clear, step-by-step instructions, so you can practice each technique yourself right away.
With my background as an elementary school teacher, I know the importance of bringing structure and fun to lessons. I'll help you when you're struggling, offer encouragement where needed, and ensure you tackle even the more challenging parts with confidence.
During the workshop, you'll receive everything you need: a good calligraphy pen, a bottle of ink, and a workbook. You'll go home with the right materials and enough knowledge to continue practicing independently.
The workshop is suitable for anyone who is curious about calligraphy – even if you are left-handed, don't like your own handwriting or think you are 'not creative enough'.

Group workshop
Have you mastered the lowercase letters of Copperplate script and would you like to take it a step further?
In this follow-up workshop, we'll delve deeper into capitalization. You'll learn a new set of basic shapes to create elegant capitals, and we'll explore ways to make your handwriting even more consistent and flowing.
I'll also gently introduce you to flourishes – creating elegant curls and decorations that give your letters that little bit extra.
Bring your own pen holder; I'll provide a flexible nib, ink, a workbook, coffee or tea, and a snack. A pleasant, in-depth lesson for anyone who's developed a taste for Copperplate.
